TRESTLEBOARD April 2005
From the EastDear Brethren, As of our regular Stated meeting held on March 24, 2005 we had a total of 13 petitions for degrees for the Grand Masters One Day Class, additionally we have four other Brethren who have started through the traditional way and who we hope will be finished by the end of September. That means four potential M.M. degrees. The first of these will be held on April 7th at 7:00 P.M. Wor.Bro. Egbert is still looking for help on the Fellow Craft team so why not give him a call at 330-225-5883 and offer your services. I'm sure Lloyd would appreciate it. Earlier in March you received a detailed three page letter regarding the Medina Masonic Temple Foundation, Inc.. I would like to give you my KIS version of the same. Any contribution you make to the Foundation becomes a tax deductible contribution from that years income tax if you file the long form. It's really that simple but the benefits "Our Temple Building" can reap from it will help to restore and maintain the building for years to come. Another Easter Season has come and gone and I hope that all of you took the time from your busy schedules to attend the church of your choice and offer up your thanks to the ever living God for the many blessings he has bestowed upon us by the sacrifice of his son so that our sins might be forgiven. If you didn't, it's never too late to give thanks to the Great Architect of the Universe whom all Masons should revere. Sincerely and Fraternally, Ted Thomas, WM
The Order of the Amaranth The Order of the Amaranth is a Fraternal Organization composed of Master Masons and their properly qualified female relatives. In its teachings, the members are emphatically reminded of their duties to God, to their Country, to their fellow beings and are urged to portray, by example, their belief in the "Golden Rule". The Order of The Amaranth was officially organized June 14, 1873, in New York City. Under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Council the Order has forty-three Grand Courts located in the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Philippines and Scotland. There are also Subordinate Courts located in Hawaii, New Zealand and Ireland. |
|
The Grand Court of Ohio currently has twenty-one Courts. The Courts closest to Medina are Akron Court #5 in Akron, Temple Court #8 in North Olmsted. Royal Court #42 in Mansfield, and Emerald Court #33 in Massillon. John S. Thomas, the Grand Secretary of the Grand Order of Ohio may be contacted for membership information at AmaranthOhio@wowway.com or by mail at 314 Powderhorn Place, Canal Winchester, OH 43110-1240. In 1979, the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation was formally adopted, and diabetes became the primary philanthropic project through which the Order of the Amaranth works for the betterment of mankind. The Order of the Amaranth mobilized the efforts of its membership to prevent and cure diabetes and to help improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes and diabetes associated illness. Thanks to the dedicated support of members worldwide, the Order of the Amaranth has raised over $6.5 million for Diabetic Research. The Amaranth Diabetes Foundation turns every dollar it collects over to the American Diabetes Association for research aimed at finding a cure for diabetes.

March 10, 2005 Dear Lodge Member: As you know, DeMolay is an organization dedicated to preparing young men to lead successful, happy, and productive lives. Basing its approach on timeless principles and practical, hands-on experience, DeMolay opens doors for young men aged 12 to 21 by developing the civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills so vitally needed in society today. DeMolay combines this serious mission with a fun approach that builds important bonds of friendship among members in more than 1,000 chapters worldwide. Here at Medina Chapter we strive to hold the bar high in our expectations and our achievements. Over the last twelve months our members have served the Masonic Fraternity for 900 hours. Medina members have posted colors for lodges, helped clean Craftsman Park, helped Masons clean highways, paid Tribute to Mothers in several Masonic Organizations, served the Ohio Masonic Home at “Home Day”, and helped raise funds at the Donut Hut at the Medina County Fair. These activities have taught us a great deal, from how to plan a successful event to the responsibility of following through with our commitments. Along the way we, the members of Medina Chapter, have developed a great respect for the Masonic Fraternity that reminds us of the hero and martyr who is the namesake of our Order, Jacques DeMolay. In order to continue our mission of excellence we require your assistance in the following three ways. First, if you are able to give of your time, we invite you to get involved in our Order, so we may spread our teachings to more young men. Second, if you are able to give financially, we welcome your donation to meet the costs of our DeMolay tradition and education. The third, and perhaps the most important, way in which we need your help is through your words. Speak well of DeMolay to your family, to your brothers, and your friends. For through your words may come the next member of the Order of DeMolay who may become the next member of your Lodge, and who knows someday may become the next Most Worshipful Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. As DeMolay members we thank the Masonic Fraternity that sponsors us and look forward to serving you during the next twelve months. Please send your donation, your comment, or your encouragement! LET THERE BE LITE A small lodge had had a string of bad luck. It was preparing to initiate a candidate on a steamy June evening when its air conditioner stopped working. After sweating their way through part of the work, the Master asked the candidate what he most desired. The candidate replied "a cold beer". At this juncture the startled WM whispered "light" to the candidate. "OK," the candidate replied, "a lite beer." |
